OUR STORY
Family-Owned Farm
We are starting our journey into rural life with an Alpaca farm. We moved in 2022 and knew we wanted to be more connected with nature. We settled on alpacas for their kind nature and docile temperament. As we learn and grow with our animals we want to share the journey.
We have generational roots in farming and living off the land. We want to keep these traditions alive. We look forward to sharing these new experiences with you and your family.

ABOUT HARTMAN FAMILY FARM
We are the Hartman Family who moved to Smith valley, NV in 2022. 2019 was a year that changed a lot. Our world was turned upside down when Marshal was hurt at work. With this impact on our family we decided there is no time like the present and we needed to do what we have talked about for the last 8 years- moving to the country.
After deciding what location was best for our family we decided on Smith Valley, Nevada. We were able to get our dream house with room to play.We were on vacation and visited a family alpaca farm in Oregon and fell in love. The more we learned about this one of a kind creature the more we were intrigued. Alpacas are unique in so many ways. Once we found our own we have been hooked.
Currently we are shearing alpacas once annually and partner with Black Rock Mountain Alpacas to process the fiber. To date we are producing yarn, dryer balls, beanies, scarfs, hand made goat milk felted soap. The goal is to be able to provide local handmade goods, local meat & vegetables, fruit as well as feature other local farms. To share our journey we have added our property to Harvest Host and hope you can join us.
Marshal and Alicia both work full time currently and are growing the farm with their three children; Jaxon, Emmalyn & Grace.
